Basically it's time for the people to take over. Corporate interests, bad govt policy, the failing economy, the rising cost of health care, education, child care, gas, lower salaries, less benefits, etc. are fucking us over. The middle class is dissolving as we speak. Families making between 50 and 100 k a year (i.e., the supposed definition of middle class) are no longer able to survive on what they bring home. It's total fucking bullshit and who is reaping the benefits? Those making 200k a year on up. Who's really making out like bandits: the top 5% of Americans. I say fuck that, fuck them and fuck anybody who doesn't believe america needs to evolve into a socialistic democracy (i.e., similar to the UK, Canada, Denmark, Sweden, etc.) Take one look at our culture and the direction we're heading in--religious zealots exerting their influence, loss of civil liberties, the dumbing down of everything, violence, lack of respect for people in general, racism, sexism, families with people who have two Ph.D's barely making enough money to survive let alone save. What the fuck? It appears you need to be some kind of flea on the corporate tit or otherwise a high roller in big business to survive. Meanwhile the rich party and play with their toys, take vacations while our democracy fucking DIES and americans sit around on their fucking asses getting fat and watching TV. SOMA motherfuckers. SOMA. People working 3 fucking jobs can't make their bills, can't afford health care, can't save. And what the fuck is being done about it? NOTHING. 60 billion they said the war in iraq would cost. We are now nearing a Trillion. Greatest nation on the planet. Right. Greatest betrayal of a noble experiment is more like it.

Those who would trade liberty for security deserve neither---Ben Franklin

What you say is essentially true, the white mail property owners who invented their notion of democracy a'la the greek model did not factor in the exponential increase of self interest and greed, nor did they consider that corporations would eventually be given the rights of individuals by those who seek to manipulate our constitution for profit. We have been over this before. Lack of humanitarian inclination by a majority of the rich, the belief in the fantasy of an afterlife that is more important than the reality of this life and the general tendency of the unactualized or perhaps totally unethical voracious greed of most capitalists utterly deconstructs the effectiveness of a form of government based on the common good. The system in this country as is is totally corrupt and unrepairable. Thus I say it again we need to TEAR THIS MOTHERFUCKER DOWN. Mark my words the revolution will happen, though it won't be the idealists who start it. It will be the poor, starving and disenfranchised who have been totally fucked out of all options beyond corporate serfdom in a capitalist police state.

The capitalist model is one based on imbalance and opportunism. This in itself makes it totally incompatible with true democracy.

And that is the monumental truth of it. A squandered legacy on top of a squandered surplus in our nation's budget turned into a record defeceit along with the rich getting richer and the middle class descending into debt and poverty. Face it, This admin has fucked us royally on every front possible and continues to do so. Everyone who voted for Shrub the first time around is partially to blame because they should have seen the writing on the wall in 99, just like MORE THAN HALF OF THE AMERICANS WHO VOTED DID. Do not forget, Gore won the popular vote and this election was stolen by both the corrupt politics of florida where the candidate's brother was, conveniently, Govenor, and by a lame duck supreme court. As for 04, more corruption in Ohio, etc, but come on, after four years of fucking up, anyone who voted Shrub that time around is either a sadly misinformed citizen, a zealot or a greedhead. As for you apathy heads. You may not think you can exact any change, and maybe you can't but at least get your ass out there and vote--even though it's only a one party system in reality. I cast my undecided ballot for the Dems yesterday, and I hope you other MI cats got out the vote as well.

And what does that tell you. The Rich run the show on all levels. The rich who have only gotten much richer these last eight years. Some democracy. (More like corporate capitalist republic). Education ignored. Millions of homeless and starving americans. Recession immenant. CEO's making 800 to 1 on worker salaries. No healthcare for MILLIONS. And where's our money going? To a war of choice started on the basis of lies while our true and original military problem (Afghanistan) is still unresolved and is actually getting worse (thus 3200 more troops headed there) because this bullshit admin decided to do everything possible wrong in blind service of their neocon agenda. These guys are fucking War Criminals and Theives, man. They truly believe the ends (from torture to lying to America's face) justify the means. Look at what these fuckers have done. Think back over the countless SERIOUS scandals, lies, manipulations of the public that have come up only to be abstracted and whisked away (Think back to any administration in the lasts 25 years that even comes close. Not even that criminal Reagan compares.) These fucks are thousands of times worse than Clinton's dick suck. It's not even comparable. By the republicans own logic Shrub should have long been impeached and Cheney and Rove, et al. should be in fucking jail. And the fact that they haven't tells you exactly what today's republicans are all about.

I have no desire to lead nor to acquire followers. I am the bell. the bullhorn. The fucking shark taking a chunk out of people's complacent asses. the time for civil persuasions is long gone. we need the hammer, the fist. (yes HST was right) I'm hear to break chains and sound alarms. Did anybody like john the baptist. fuck no. they gave him up and they cut off his head. Too much dumbmess reigns supreme in this nation. people need to wake up or get out of the way. Moderates are like god's luke warm milk, neither hot nor cold and thus deserve to be spat into the dust with the chaff, the seeds that do not find fertile soil. I am but a word. Sometimes the word is loud. Sometimes it is gentle. The word itself cares not what others think as they read it. The word knows and cares only what IT means.

Here's and older Mullins rant: What we have in this country is not a challenging problem. We have a failing democracy on the verge of becoming a corporate consumerist police state where the middle class is dissolving, poverty and joblessness is rising, health care is out of reach for a huge percentage of the population, celebrity has reached godlike status and products/technology/consumption/entertainment/tv are taking the place of meaningful human relationships and true social interactions. This nation has become a cultural and intellectual vacuum where ignorance, greed, and narrow mindedness have become "cool." We are now and will continue to be in a perpetual, self-created state of "war" against whatever the government tells us we are supposed to be fighting, be it drugs, terrorists, liberal thinking or obesity. Remember, this is a nation where a huge percentage of the population doesn't even believe in evolution! (40-some percent at last
poll) That's enough to make me move right there--religious fundamentalists who take the bible literally. What the fuck?! Try to govern ME and my family with your fucking religious mythology instead of rational humanism?
Fuck that. And these people now have HUGE lobbying power with the Govt.
Separation between church and state is dissolving fast and will continue to do so. These are people who can't be reasoned with and thus they are people I don't want to be around. I plan to encourage my child to be a global citizen and a rational humanist. These days those types of people happen to be few and far between here in America--they're plentiful in Canada and in many other countries with the obvious exceptions (i.e., the middle east and any place where too many obsessed fanatics, afterlife seekers/sky godders dwell). The conservative religious right corporate greed heads are clearly running the show here. Why would I want her to be part of that or to live under its influence? If you lived in a place you thought sucked would you go somewhere better or stay there so your daughter could absorb all the shitty influences under the guise of claiming you were developing her character by teaching her how to not "run" (i.e. avoid) fucked up people and fucked up situations? Sounds like sacrificing someone else's development for the sake of one's own misguided ideals to me, kind of like purposefully staying in a ghetto when you have the chance to leave just so your child could build her "character" by "rising above" it. Why would I want her to hang around the kind of people I see this culture creating: arrogant, self-entitled, materially obsessed, historically/culturally/socially ignorant self-righteous religious zealot idiots? I suppose she can choose to be part of that kind of thinking later if she wants, but when I see a festering pile of shit, I'm not the kind of parent who'll set his kid into the middle of it so she can learn how to face with the "problem" she didn't create, doesn't need, and shouldn't contribute to. That's not good parenting, that's taking the history of this nation's fuck ups and throwing their consequences into her face. And I will do everything I can to avoid that. Positive environments equal positive feedback which leads to positive thinking which leads to a well-rounded human being. If she wants to fight for social justice when she grows up, more power to her--but first she has to have been raised in a way that makes her see the world for what it is, with it's injustices and inequities, not through the bullshit of American indoctrination--otherwise she'll become just like what far too many americans are: pathetically mis-informed sheep struggling to simply make
the bills. Rational humanism, man. Objectivity. Opinions based on facts
and evidence. Social responsibility. Respect for self others and nature.
That is what I am charged with showing her through example--and that kind of thinking/action is scarce here.
I'll put it simply: I plan on continuing to live in such a way that I am constantly detecting, calling out, and avoiding assholes and the ideas/attitudes that create them while doing things the right/responsible way within my own sphere of influence. You can call it teaching my kid to run away, but I call it creating your own solution and leading the way to a better future by example. When she's old enough, my daughter will judge this approach, and my character, for herself and choose her own path accordingly.

What? He didn't take responsibility for shit. Otherwise he would have gone to Jail. North was the fall guy and even he got off the hook. NO ONE went down for iran/contra, just as no one has really gone down for all the bs in this admin. here's another appetizer for you from the encyclopedia:
This is just the tip of the iceburg that doesn't talk about how the admin furthered the fucked up agenda of corporate america, cia and the Nixon administration. I'll give you that for dinner--once I have time to cook it.
During the presidency of Ronald Reagan in the United States, multiple scandals developed which resulted in a number of administration staffers being convicted. The most well known, the Iran-Contra affair, involved a plan whereby weapons were sold to Iran and the profits diverted to fund the Nicaraguan Contras, in violation of U.S. and international law.
A total of 225 people who served in the Reagan administration either quit, were fired, arrested, indicted, or convicted for either breaking the law or violating the Ethics Code; Edwin Meese alone, the Attorney General, was investigated by three separate Special Prosecutors.[1]
Several other controversies also occurred in the Reagan administration; one involved Department of Housing secretary Samuel Pierce and his associates. Wealthy contributors to the administration's campaign were rewarded with funding for low income housing development without the customary background checks, and lobbyists, such as former Secretary of the Interior James G. Watt, were rewarded with huge lobbying fees for assisting campaign contributors with receiving government loans and guarantees. Six administration staffers were convicted.
Also involving the EPA: funds from the Superfund to clean up toxic waste sites were released to enhance the election prospects of local politicians aligned with the administration.

I can come on with the soft sell or the hard sell and I like the hard sell in politics because I'm fucking sick of being lied to and manipulated by unethical profit fixated fucks with their world domination agendas, their greed, their total lack of compassion and humility and utter hypocrisy. Even the Dali Lama has said if someone is shooting at you it is reasonable for you to shoot back. The Buddha tells us that the defense of true human values (i.e., the supremacy of compassion) is one of our first priorities. This is why the Buddhist gods that stave off evil are terrible and terrifying, uncompromising gods. Evil deserves to be punched in the fucking head repeatedly, not logically and reasonably debated with.

So yeah. I'm a car bomb. and after I blow up I'll come back as a daisy.

cred is only someone else's opinion of my worth from their point of view. it matters nil to me what others think of how I tell them the truth. just as it mattered nil to JB living in the fucking desert, eating bugs, covered in dirt, ranting like a freak. He was not killed for his cred. he was killed on the whim of a woman and pharasees who sold his ass down the river because they thought him a blasphemer who threatened the status quo

again, I'm not trying to persuade anyone, just defending the truth, which can seem persuasive because it's the truth. The only opponents I have are those who oppose the truth, which should be obvious to anyone who seeks it. As for all of us thinking Bush sucks, it didn't start out that way. You repubs defended him staunchly and well into his many fuck ups. It took years for the left end of this train to badger the right into objectivity. Also, I don't oppose anyone personally on the train, keep that in mind. These freaks endorse you. I run deep with these freaks so I'm sure you're a solid guy. Maybe one day we'll even get to hoist a beer over the pile of emails we've all sent. I actually hope someone has kept all these somewhere. What began the day after 9/11 with fred sending an email to us all saying we need to turn afghanistan into a parking lot has turned into 5+ years of gonzo corrospendence that covers most of the perspectives in the american political spectrum. It would make an interesting book. We're all character/personas/caricatures here--exaggerations of ourselves and our opinions. Sure I hate right wing nazi types with a vengence and am basically a card carrying neo-transcendentalist buddhist socialist who thinks the rich and evangelical (of any/all religions) are the scourge of this earth. I think the social/financial class structure of capitalism is morally corrupt, inhumane and the worst most destructive idea humanity ever thought up. As soon as I can make it happen I will be living a self sustaining and maybe even communal existence as close to nature as possible. All I want to do is write, create and be close to nature and God. But my entire family are irish roman catholic republicans, from moderate to far right, and I love them all. So sure I'm disgusted by republicans in general, but not by republicans as individuals. It depends on how and why they're republican. So even though you might not think so, I know where you're coming from, man. You're probably a lot like my relatives, a person who works hard and cares about his family and thinks people should earn what they need to get ahead. No freebies, protect our interests, be a good Christian. You still believe in the American dream (forgive the generalizations). And that's cool and respectable. You gotta remember, this is just me running around lighting the veil on fire. I mean, shit man, it's not like I've never eaten at Taco Bell or wished I had Stingray Vette. I just come on loud and hot on this train because that's my role here, I am the far far left, though it is all motivated by what I know and believe. For me, the challenge in living has always been in learning how to practice what I know to be true. Thus my failures lead to growth (on good days). So please pardon any of my words that seemed personally directed at you. I am actually railing against something much larger of which we are all, in some way, a part. No one on this train is innocent. And perhaps I yell the loudest because I am most angry at myself for not yet being who/what I know I should/could be. Such is the irony of (social) consciousness.

peace, man. see the flying doves with the olive branches clutched in their talons rising in clouds of good will from my house up into the gray skies of this city.
