Doc Mull Political Rant

and that's why I'm an independent. However, there is no viable 3rd party in the US and the Democrats have the more palatable ideology to me because at least they have more (though still not enough) of an inclination toward rational humanism by putting (in general) people's health, education, and access to necessary social services before corporate profits and the agendas of the rich or those who would try to force their version of "morality" on others. They still fall way short, but they are the most rational party we have going at the moment.I'm a socialist (not to be confused with a communist in that I believe entrepreneurship and private property are fine and all business should not be government regulated--you'd be surprised how many people don't know the difference between Communism and Socialism). I would tax the fuck out of the rich and corporations, have universal health care, public (i.e., free, college education), dump way more money into grade school and high school education reforms and social services, make absolutely sure that our nation remains secular in the public sphere, give corporations huge incentives to develop and ultilize green energy practices, put big bucks into stem cell research of all kinds, develop a non-oil based power infrastructure (wind, solar, tidal, etc.). Give the auto industry incentives to develop mass transit and mass transit infrastructure while continuing them to move away from the internal combustion engine. Tax the fuck out of luxury purchases like luxury cars, SUV's, yachts, second and third homes, etc. End the war on drugs. Decriminalize and Regulate the sale of grass for serious governmental profit (and encourage tobacco companies to shift from growing tobacco to growing weed to smoke and hemp for industrial/energy purposes. Put all non-violent hard drug offenders in lock down rehab centers instead of jail, eliminate corporate prisons, cap the salaries of CEO's or tax accordingly, get rid of the electoral college. End lobbying. Take all public (i.e. mandatory, out loud group) prayer out of public schools (you wanna pray in public school, no one's stopping you from doing it in your head). Stop outsourcing jobs and start focusing on creating a self sustaining economy based not on offering consumers the cheapest possible goods but on encouraging people to buy American products. I would get our military fingers out of everybody's business, cut the pentagon budget to 1/3 of the money wasted on false wars of choice and still have more than enough money to develop an incredibly powerful and flexible military that no one would dare fuck with. In short, I would do what rational people know our government should have been doing all along if it weren't for the greedy fucks and religious fanatics who have manipulated our free society and free market for their own selfish and/or superstitious ends.Forget the greedy obsessed with their intellectually tiny lives and their self-absorbed "needs" and "right to have" more at the expense of others. Their houses are full but their souls and minds are empty of all that truly matters. Forget the evangelicals who would DARE to assume they know what god is or what god wants. Power to the PEOPLE. Unity. Awareness. Progress for all not the few. Compassion. Responsibility. Accountability. The simple fact that people even need such obviousness explained or would be resistant to implementing such basic humanitarian ideas shows just how lost we are as a nation.No candidate from either party has the balls to go this route. Though, again, a democrat would suggest such things before a republican.
